My heart skips a beat when I even think of going deep in this segment. A celebrity is not only a person we watch on big screen or dance to their popular numbers, but they add more to our lives. And when they leave this world, a true fan can also feel the void created in his life just like the family members and friends of deceased. Let’s take a look back and remember those iconic personalities who came in our lives with complete ecstasy and when left made us equally sad. People come, people go but these legendary Bollywood actresses will remain forever in our hearts and their memories can never fade away.

One such personality which recently bid us forever goodbye and left us in shocked state is veteran Bollywood superstar ‘Sridevi’. The untimely demise of beautiful lady disturbed the whole country to an extent which doesn’t seem to go off soon. This also reminded us of the other iconic divas of our tinsel town which were known to spell magic on screen with their incredible performances and acting skills. From charismatic Madhubala to young sensation Divya Bharti, all these ladies were at their careers’ best when left the world. To our surprise, some of these even ended their lives with their own hands and made us realize about their devastating lives behind the camera. That’s why they say – The life of an actor starts when the camera is off and what the world just can’t imagine. Sridevi


An artist who began her journey in film industry at the age of four and continued this lifelong voyage till 54 stunned the whole world with her untimely demise on late Saturday evening. The lady who was in Dubai for the wedding of nephew Mohit Marwah decided to stay little more and became a victim of accidental drowning. Talking about her glorious era, we can’t forget to mention her childlike voice, breathtaking smile and phenomenal dance moves.

Sridevi was the first and only female actor who was always compared with Amitabh Bachchan for her great acting skills and on-screen performance. Moreover, her charm never ended. The way Sridevi made a comeback in film fraternity with her exemplary performance in English Vinglish and mind-blowing dressing sense is hard to forget. Some of her most popular looks of recent time are –

• The white floral printed saree which Sridevi picked for a reality show during the promotion of Mom was magnificent. She paired this gorgeous Sabyasachi saree with matching statement necklace and stud earrings. To conclude, Sridevi in sarees always looked resplendent.

• The lavish fuchsia gown which she wore for ‘Lux Golden Rose Awards 2017’ was delight to watch. Her contrasting set of choker necklace and earrings was enough to let us know about her fabulous fashion sense and style statement.

• For IFFI 2017, Sridevi dazzled in stunning designer ensemble which was completed with sleek mid parted bun and stud earrings. The plain black shirt paired with matching golden skirt and dupattas was all about royalty.

• Not just this, the last event Sridevi attended (the wedding of his nephew in Dubai) was all glamorous and ethnic inspired. On the wedding day, Sridevi slipped into an exquisite green coloured lehenga and looked simply outstanding. How we wish to see her more in such awe-inspiring avatars!?

A girl who took birth in the small state of Tamil Nadu, Sivakasi soon became a popular child artist of South Industry and later became one of the most popular and legendary actress of Indian Film Industry. She was born on 13 August 1963 and died on 24 February 2018 but she will always remain alive in the hearts of her fans.

Madhubala


Popularly known as ‘The Venus of Indian Cinema’ and ‘The Beauty with Tragedy’, Madhubala was one of the most iconic and biggest stars of Indian cinema. A girl who was born to a very poor family started working at the age of 9 to support her family financially and made her entry in Bollywood town. Due to her matchless beauty and phenomenal acting skills, Madhubala was the first Indian actress who appeared in Hollywood magazine at that time. She was even offered role there but her father declined.

Madhubala also gained huge media attention due to her personal life and alleged affairs. She was in a long term relationship with popular actor Dilip Kumar which later turned sour due to family issues and other professional problems. Later, she married Kishor Kumar and remained married for him for long nine years. That relationship was also not the happy one in Madhubala’s life due to her severely bad health conditions and chronic disease. Due to long illness and unpreventable condition, Madhubala succumbed to death on 23 February 1969, just after her 36th birthday.

Madhubala was born on 14 February 1933 in Delhi, India and lived for a short span due to her bad health conditions.

Geeta Bali


Another famed actress of tinsel town couldn’t make it long enough and died soon after a short life of 35 years. Geeta Bali was known to be one of the most expressive and spontaneous star of her time. She was married to highly popular Bollywood man Shammi Kapoor and was blessed with two kids. During this era, the female stars also used to get fame for their eye-catching dressing sense and style statement. Wearing attractive salwar suit or saree, these stunning ladies used to look no less than a beauty goddess and epitome of grace and elegance. Geeta Bali was born in Pakistan as Harkirtan Kaur and later moved to Mumbai when started getting offers from film industry. She also started working as child artist at the age of 12 and gained huge appreciation for her acting skills and captivating expressions.

The stunning actresses caught smallpox, resulting which died on 21 January 1965. She will always be a shining star in the lives of her fans and would remain alive forever.

Meena Kumari


Born as Mahajabeen Bano, Meena Kumari was one of the most known and acclaimed rivalry to Madhubala when it comes to popularity. She was widely known as the Cinderella of the Indian films. Not just for her acting skills, but the late veteran actress was also known for her melodious voice and poetic skills. Every other artist in the industry was a fan of her unparalleled aura and charm. From legendary Dilip Kumar to Bollywood biggie Amitabh Bachchan, everyone seems to be encapsulated in her incredible acting talent and on screen magic.

She truly was one of the most beautiful, gorgeous and charismatic ladies of Indian Cinema. It’s next to impossible to ever forget her in this life span.

Meena Kumari was born on 1 August 1933 and died on 31 March 1972, having contracted with liver cirrhosis.

Smita Patil


Known to be one of the finest stage and theatre artists, Smita Patil is one name which industry and world can never forget. The beautiful actress who always gave her best when faced camera and will always be known for her charismatic aura just can’t be described in mere words. Not just acting, but Smita was also well known for her evident commitment towards women related issues and welfare. She was married to actor Raj Babbar and died at the age of 31 due to childbirth complications.

The actress always looked great in Indian wears and sarees. She also led a very short life and died at the young age. But Smita Patil will always remain alive in our memories and would be forever remembered as reigning queen of Indian cinema.

Divya Bharti


How can we forget the gorgeous young actress who caused sensation in the Indian cinema industry with her charming looks and young personality!? Being a highly versatile and vivacious actor, Divya soon become the spotlight of the film fraternity and was one of the highest paid female stars of her time. People at that time love to see these old actresses in sarees and other ethnic wears while performing on screen. She started her career from Telugu films and then moved to Bollywood to gain success in Indian film industry.

Divya Bharti is one such names which can never be forgotten or die from Indian cinema. During the shoot of ‘Shola Aur Shabnam’, she met Sajid Nadiadwala and fell in love with him. The couple soon got married and DIvya converted to Islam after her marriage. But the fate has something different for her. Before the completion of one year of marriage, Diva died in an accident where she fell off the balcony of her fifth floor apartment in Versova, Mumbai.

DIvya Bharti was born on 25 February 1974 and died on 5 April 1993 in a young age of 19.

Soundarya


How can we forget the strong and powerful character of the main lead in Sooryavansham??? The beautiful actress with great acting skills was always at her best when she appears on screen but her tragic death devastated her fans and gave them big shock. She was highly popular in Telugu cinema and also worked in various other languages. Soundarya married to her childhood friend at a young age and was also very active participant in politics.

But before she can continue her contribution in both cinema and politics, the beautiful young actress died in a plane crash occurred in the year 2004 along with her brother Amarnath. When she died, she was 7 months pregnant and was going for an election campaign.

Kuljeet Randhawa


Kuljeet Randhawa was one name which kids of 90s who watch television series can relate easily. She was the popular face of well liked TV series like C.A.T.S., Special Squad and Kohinoor. Kuljeet started her career as a model and worked with various national and international brands. The beautiful young model and actress was known for ditching stereotypical female roles in Indian television and always picked something thrilling and strong character featuring roles.

But due to personal problems and never-ending pressures in life, she ended her life by committing suicide at the age of 28. Kuljeet finished shooting for her first film before she hanged herself in her apartment in Juhu, Mumbai. She left a suicide note before putting her life to end which stated that she was unable to cope with life’s pressures.

Kuljeet Randhawa was born on 1 January 1977 and died on 8 February 2006.

Jiah Khan


How can anyone of us forget the high profile suicide case of Jiah Khan??? The young, gorgeous actress who started her Bollywood career opposite iconic superstar Amitabh Bachchan was at the peak of her fame when she decided to end her life. The actress worked in three Bollywood films and was already signed for other projects when she committed suicide by hanging herself in her family apartment in Juhu, Mumbai. She was in a romantic relationship with now Bollywood star Sooraj Pancholi, son of Aditya Pancholi.

The relationship was said to be bad and abusive by her family which marked the end of Jiah’s life. Born in New York, United States, Jiah Khan wanted to pursue a career in acting and modelling since her childhood days.

Jiah was born on 20 February 1988 and died on 3 June 2013.

Pratyusha Banerjee


The famed actress of popular Indian television serial “Balika Vadhu” stunned the whole country when she ended her life by committing suicide. Pratyusha was one of the most popular and household names of Indian television. She was famously called by her screen name ‘Anandi’ and was one of the vivacious contestants of Big Boss Season 7. The actress was picked by a talent hunt and came into limelight for her stellar performance in Balika Vadhu, a daily soap representing the status of child marriage in India.

It was said that she was not in a good relationship with her beau Rahul Raj Singh and thus put her life to end. Pratyusha was born in Jamshedpur on 10 August 1991 and died on 1 April 2016 by hanging herself in her Mumbai apartment.

It’s hard to forget these faces as they have given their best to entertainment industry and our world; we can only wish that their souls remain happier than their lives.
